Having always enjoyed handling fabrics as a child, I had the opportunity to use other materials: clay, paint and constructions while studying for a BA(ED) Art, Craft and Design at Trinity College, Carmarthen. I graduated in 2000.
My work is based on a number of themes. Using flowers and the landscape of West Wales as a catalyst, I enjoy reflecting my love of colour, shape and surfaces in paint and other media. The rhythmical shape of the flower is extended to the female form; the organic shapes reflecting the inner self and the aura that surrounds us.
My series of work entitled “Celebration” and “Coloured Symbols,” evoke the symbolic meaning of shapes and colours crossing both Celtic and Asian cultures; it is a celebration of the ongoing cycle of nature.
A fusion of textiles, packaging, pressed paper, organic matter, slate, metals, waxes, ceramic, beads, threads, recycled wood and metals: interesting objects, remnants from my own and my children`s early years are incorporated into the mixed media works.
Being experimental in my approach, I relish playing with new media.

New Series
I am currently working on a series of enlarged floral images on box canvas, ranging from 20" x 20" upwards, while mixed media flower impressions continue on small metal pieces.
My work is continuing to evelove and develop. The smaller relief collages, (9"x9") Welsh Ladies "Y Gymreision" utilise remnants of kitchen utensils/materials , sculpted wire and my old Welsh costume, reflecting frustration at being tied to domestic life before pursuing my teaching course. These images are set on stucco and plated steel producing wonderful irregular colours.
I attend the City and Guilds part-time embroidery course at Gorseinon College.
